2013 (May) – Spring Visitors

Our neighborhood  Albany County Opportunity Inc. Olivia Rorie Head Start  visited twice recently to see the animals at the Radix Center.  The Albany Free School’s pre-k, kindergarten, and first grades visited the chickens, rabbits, and fish.  The Thomas O’Brien Academy of Science and Technology (TOAST) Albany Magnet Elementary School ‘s Science Club made their first visit to Radix, and 2 classes from the Woodland Hill Montessori School learned about the animals, compost, capturing and storing the energy of the sun, and released ladybugs for organic pest control.

Other visitors included  Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy; advocates of Capital Region sustainability from SUNY, the Attorney General’s office, NYSERDA, Environmental Facilities Corp and Empire State Development; & students from Skidmore College, St. Rose,  &  SUNY Albany’s Atmospheric Science class and Environmental Physics class.  The Albany 4H Club has also been visiting monthly.  We also were open for visitors during the South End Earth Day, and always welcome passersby in to see what is growing and living inside!
